ZQuintuplian fidget cubes: our review and test

The ZQuintuplian pack holds four soft, brightly coloured squishy cubes, sold as classroom prizes and party favours. This review sets out what the listing states, what it leaves unsaid and what you should look for on the packaging before the cubes reach anyone's hands.

By Hannah Whitfield · Updated 23 October 2026

In short

  • 4 cubes in one pack, described as colourful and each coming individually.
  • Listed size: 10 x 10 x 0.5 cm, a figure that does not fit a cube and is best treated as unreliable.
  • Material listed only as "high-quality", with no filling, age, UKCA or CE marking or maker's address mentioned.
  • House score: 6.5/10, a handy pack held back by a listing that skips the essentials.

Compared with the rest: four cubes, a pair of foods and eighteen animals

ProductPackSize on the listingWhat changes

The cubes sit between a pair and a big bag: more pieces than ICONRY, far fewer than DTYDECLE, and a plainer design than either. Nobody buys this pack for characters; it is a block-shaped object you can hand round.

We tested it: what four cubes and a listing let us check

We tested the pack the way a shopper can before buying: we went through its five photos, compared the cubes with their neighbours and read every bullet against the others. The findings below come from that reading, with no measurement made up.

Four cubes, four colours

The listing promises "four colorful fidget cubes in one package", and the photos show a set of soft blocks in different shades. A pack of four is the product's real strength: one cube can stay at a desk, one go in a bag, and the others be handed out.

One of the five listing photos we went through, showing the soft cubes in their different colours.

A surface described as smooth

The text calls the surface smooth and the use quiet. Those are two claims about feel and sound that only the cubes in hand can confirm, so we note them as listed and give no verdict on them.

A size line that does not fit

The specification reads 10 x 10 x 0.5 cm. Half a centimetre of depth describes a flat tile, not a cube, and the bullets speak of a size that fits pockets. Most likely the figure belongs to the packaging; the real dimensions are on the box.

Everything in the middle column is the seller's wording. It is useful for comparing lots, not as a measurement taken outside the listing.

Where a fidget cube sits among squishy types

TypeGeneral ideaWhere the ZQuintuplian cubes fit
MochiSmall soft pieces, often in animal or food shapesSame softness, but plain blocks with no character
Slow risingFoam that creeps back slowlyOne bullet mentions slow rebound, no rise time is given
TabaThick, tacky, dough-like piecesDescribed as smooth, with no stickiness mentioned
KitYou fill a shell yourselfUnrelated: the cubes come finished
Stress ballA round object to squeezeSame gesture, but a block shape

In practice the pack belongs with the fidget blocks sold on the anti-stress shelf: simple, uniform, and meant to be pressed without looking at them.

What the listing never names: the material and the filling

"High-quality material" tells you nothing about what the cubes are made of. That matters because squishies fall into two families: solid foam or rubber, and a soft shell holding gel, liquid, beads or sand.

  • Germany's Verbraucherzentrale (7 October 2026) lists the risks as a split shell, swallowed beads, burns from heat and a shell that bursts.
  • Stiftung Warentest (26 September 2026) advises against sand-filled models and warns about water beads, which can block the gut if swallowed.
  • The UK's OPSS (10 August 2026) reported a coloured cube filled with liquid and glitter, with no identification and no UKCA or CE marking: the liquid was over the permitted microbial limit.
  • A Bavarian lab study from 2019 found one foam squishy out of 18 containing dimethylformamide, a solvent with an unpleasant smell.

None of this describes the ZQuintuplian cubes. It explains why a listing that skips the filling asks the buyer to do the checking, and it is the main reason this review caps the safety information score.

Never apply heat

France's DGCCRF asked on 10 August 2026 that people not copy online experiments such as microwaving a squishy; incidents including bursting and burns were reported and analyses are under way. A split or strange-smelling cube goes in the bin. See the squishy recalls page for the recalls and alerts we follow.

What to check before you give them to anyone

Missing from the listingWhy it mattersWhere to look
Minimum age from the makerThe Verbraucherzentrale advises no squishy for under-threesBox or leaflet
UKCA or CE markingA toy with no marking is described as riskier by franceinfo (10 August 2026)Box, product photos
Address of the maker or importerIts absence is a warning sign according to Stiftung WarentestBox
Smell when openedA chemical or petrol-like smell is a reason to stopOn unpacking
Solid or filledA filled cube can split and leakAsk the seller

A CE mark alone does not settle things: some products named in the German alerts carried one. Read the marking together with the other items, never by itself, and note that the guide to whether squishies are safe goes through the same steps.

Realistic use: desk, bag, goody bag

On a desk

A cube is a sensible object to turn over during a call or while reading. The listing calls it quiet, which would suit a shared office, but every sound claim is untested until it reaches you.

In a bag or pocket

Four loose cubes can shift around at the bottom of a bag, so keep them in a pouch of their own. The listing mentions no case or pouch.

As prizes and party favours

Classroom prizes and party bags are what the seller suggests. A pack of four is sized for that, but the minimum age on the box decides who may receive one. For other ideas, see the squishy gift ideas.

Third photo from the ZQuintuplian fidget cubes listing
Another listing photo: the pack is sold as something to share or to keep in several places.

The limits worth knowing

  • The material is unnamed, so cleaning and storage advice cannot be taken from the page.
  • The size is contradictory: 10 cm wide and 0.5 cm deep does not describe a cube.
  • "Retain their shape after repeated squeezing" is a promise, with no figure behind it.
  • No cleaning instructions are given.
  • Colours are mixed, so you cannot pick which shades arrive.
Wellbeing promises left out

The title and bullets credit these cubes with effects on anxiety and focus. Nothing on the page supports that, and this site does not repeat it: they are soft toys to squeeze, sold on a stress-toy shelf.

Who the cubes suit, and who should look elsewhere

A good match if

  • You want several matching cubes to hand out or scatter around.
  • You are happy to check the box for age, marking and address on arrival.
  • You prefer a plain block to a character.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a named material before ordering: the anti stress comparison has lots that name theirs.
  • You need a slow rising foam with a stated rise time.
  • The cubes are for a child under three, where the Verbraucherzentrale advises against squishies altogether.

Our verdict: 6.5 out of 10

CriterionScoreWhy
Pack and colours7.5Four cubes in several colours, easy to share
Portability7.5Pocket-sized shape, though the size line is contradictory
Material information on the listing4"High-quality material" and nothing more
Safety information on the listing4.5No age, no marking, no maker's address
Value as a shareable gift7Four pieces, but a pack whose wording promises too much

6.5/10 for a simple pack that is easy to like and hard to vouch for from the page. If the box shows an age, a UKCA or CE mark and an address, the cubes make a tidy set to share; if it shows none of them, pick a lot with a fuller listing.

Frequently asked questions

How many cubes are in the ZQuintuplian pack?

Four, according to the listing, in different colours. The text says each cube comes individually, which can be read as separately wrapped.

How big are the cubes?

The specification gives 10 x 10 x 0.5 cm, which does not fit a cube, while the text says they fit in a pocket. Check the size printed on the box.

What are they made of?

The listing says only "high-quality material". It does not say whether the cubes are solid or filled, and the seller can be asked.

Are they slow rising squishies?

Not in the sense of foam that rises over several seconds. One bullet speaks of slow rebound, but no timing is given.

Can they be given to young children?

The listing gives no minimum age. The maker's age on the box applies, and the Verbraucherzentrale advises against any squishy for under-threes.

Can they be washed?

The listing gives no cleaning advice. Our how to clean a squishy guide covers cleaning in general, and a squishy should never be heated.

Do they carry a UKCA or CE mark?

The listing does not say. Look for it on the packaging, along with the maker's or importer's address, and treat a missing mark as a reason to hold back.

What should I do if a cube splits or smells odd?

Stop using it and put it aside. The DGCCRF advises setting aside cracked toys and reporting an abnormal smell on SignalConso, and a skin reaction deserves medical advice.
